MrFaiz and I had been thinking what would be enjoyable to do during this Christmas holidays. Then he suggested something that everybody liked.

Baking gingerbread cookies!

Yesterday, we couldn’t wait to get started. As soon as the little young man woke up, I delightedly explained to him about the plan. I wanted to get him ready and start working in the kitchen.

I repeatedly told him, “we are making gingerbread cookies today”.

He seemed not to understand what gingerbread meant. He knows cookies, but which one? :|

“Pipparkakku” I said again. He nodded his head a few times.

“Kukka” he replied.

Pretty close, I thought :)

Kukka means flower while kakku means cake in Finnish :D

After breakfast, I decided to make a quick apron for him. My mind came accross the plain white cotton that I never used. Great!

Measuring, drawing and cutting in my non-professional way, I managed to get it ready for him. I also wrote his name on the top right corner of the apron. It wasn’t perfect but at least comfortable enough for next few hours :D

Bring it on Mama! :D

Mikael had such a great time rolling and cutting the dough into shapes of gingerbread man and moose.  He was smiling, laughing and giggling made my heart showered with satisfaction and love.

His small hands firmly pressed the cookie cutter before slowly lifting and placing it on the baking paper. One by one.

He refused to have my help unless small ‘disaster’ came up on the table :D

His gingerbread man and gingerbread moose :D

Mikael couldn’t wait to try his handmade cookies. Once they were ready, he started counting and placing them on top of each other.

I gave him some decoration pen to play with. He loved that the most!

Finally the sticky thing from the pen was everywhere including on my tablet screen :D

Needless to say, it was a successful project of the day!

No recipe is included as I bought a ready made dough for the cookies :D

This entry is my heartfelt dedication for our beloved Mikael. Hope the pictures and story will remind you to the wonderful times we had together.

With so much love,

Mama & Daddy
